Hamilton Honey Badger clinch playoff spot with weekend win over Guelph

Honey Badgers downed the Nighthawks 118-99 in Hamilton Saturday.

The Hamilton Honey Badgers took down the Guelph Nighthawks in Hamilton Saturday earning a playoff weekend berth.

Hamilton led the scoring in the first quarter, 33-17, but their lead was diminished by the half to just 53-50.

The Honey Badgers won both the third and fourth quarters, 32-26 and 33-23.

Demetrius Denzel-Dyson and Ricky Tarrant Jr. led the scoring for Hamilton with 31 and 30 points, respectively, in the game. Mike Fraser led the Honey Badgers in rebounds with 14.

Myles Charvis scored 25 points for the Nighthawks and took down six rebounds.

Hamilton has two more games before the end of the Canadian Elite Basketball League season; a rematch against the Nighthawks Aug. 9 in Guelph and a home game against the Niagara River Lions Aug. 14.

The CEBL playoffs take place Aug. 22-25 in Saskatoon, Sask.
