Kyle Warrener • Apr 04, 2024

The Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday an official partnership with Algoma University. This partnership with one of Brampton’s post-secondary institutions will connect with the local community by providing underserved youth and families with the opportunity to attend Honey Badgers games in addition to recognizing community leaders in a soon-to-be-launched co-branded social media campaign.

“As Algoma continues to deepen its commitment to a comprehensive university within Brampton’s downtown, we are excited to partner with the Brampton Honey Badgers for the 2024 season. Actively contributing to the communities in which we are deeply rooted is at the core of Algoma University’s mission,” said Algoma University President and Vice-Chancellor Asima Vezina. “Algoma University and the Brampton Honey Badgers have shared goals and values - I am proud to partner with another group in our community also committed to creating opportunities for the participation of underprivileged youth.”

With a campus conveniently located in the heart of downtown Brampton, the university offers an urban option for students while working closely in collaboration with the Peel District School Board, Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board, Brampton Innovation District, and countless local businesses and organizations that call Brampton home. The campus offers academic programming in business administration, community economic and social development, computer science, finance and economics, psychology, and social work.

“We are thrilled to have Algoma University be an official partner this season and to join us as we continue our commitment to community involvement,” said Chris Rodricks, senior director of business operations for the Brampton Honey Badgers. “Our aligned passion to work with community groups and leaders in Brampton will certainly make this partnership flourish while making an incredible impact right here in the city.”

With the 2024 season on the horizon, Honey Badgers fans can get excited about what is in store for the second season of professional basketball at the CAA Centre. Honey Badgers season tickets and other ticket packages are available now at
