BRAMPTON HONEY BADGERS INTRODUCE THE “B-1ST AWARDS” TO HIGHLIGHT COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS ACROSS THE CITY

Kyle Warrener • Nov 06, 2023

The Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Monday the launch of the B-1st Awards, continuing to show the organization’s commitment to highlighting the businesses, individuals, and groups that represent the city of Brampton with passion and pride. The awards will recognize those in Brampton who continue to make a positive impact and inspire the next generation of leaders.

The
B-1st Awards will provide community champions with recognition for the great impact they have made and continue to make in our city. Each month will have a theme for Honey Badgers fans and the Brampton community to nominate who they think is most deserving to be highlighted. Winners will be selected throughout the month and will be featured across the Honey Badgers social media channels, in addition to a special visit from Hammer. B-1st Awards recipients will also be honored in-arena at a 2024 Honey Badgers home game for their contributions and the impact that they have made.

“We are proud to bring the spotlight to deserving people, businesses and activities that make the City of Brampton such a vibrant, diverse and successful community” said Michael Cvitkovic, president of the Brampton Honey Badgers. “The Honey Badgers look forward to celebrating this amazing talent throughout the year and encourage residents to support these local treasures.”

Nominations are now being accepted for November as the Honey Badgers highlight locally-owned restaurants in the city. Those who submit a deserving business, individual or group are eligible to receive two (2) tickets to any 2024 home game of their choice if the nomination is selected. To nominate, visit

October marked
Small Business Month in the city of Brampton, showcasing the importance of their impact to our local community and economy. The Honey Badgers teamed up with the Brampton Board of Trade to showcase businesses that truly represent what it means to be a small and growing business in the city. Mr. Singh’s Pizza, Gray Health Matters, Corks Winery Brampton, Dr. HVAC, and Scooty were five highlighted for their work and gifted with a customized “We Are Brampton” jersey for their contributions.

In September, the Honey Badgers officially launched the B-1st campaign, aimed at showcasing the incredible people, businesses, communities, and organizations that call Brampton home. It is also a commitment by Brampton’s only professional sports team to seek first within its own City for services, people, and products.
