The Brampton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that they have re-signed forward Prince Oduro for the 2023 campaign. Oduro, 24, returns for a second season with the Honey Badgers. He is currently averaging 12.4 points, and 7.9 rebounds in 31 games as a starter with Korihait Uusikaupunki of Finland’s Korisliiga league. He has also averaged 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 14 minutes in two games with the Canadian National team during its FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in February.

Oduro made his professional debut in May 2022 with the Honey Badgers in a season-opening victory over the Montreal Alliance. Appearing in all but one game last season, Oduro averaged 5.2 points, and 4.5 rebounds and tied the Honey Badgers single season franchise record with 17 blocked shots (equally the mark now assistant coach Mike Fraser established as a player with the Honey Badgers during the 2019 season).

The Toronto native spent his entire collegiate career south of the border with four different institutions. A product of First Love Christian Academy in Pennsylvania, Oduro became the first basketball player in school history to sign with a Division I program when he committed to Siena College. Following stops at Mississippi State and South Florida, Oduro eventually completed his student-athlete journey with the University of Detroit-Mercy Titans.

A valued member of the Canadian National team program for several years, Oduro earned a Gold medal at the U19 FIBA World Cup in 2017 in Cairo, Egypt.

Coming off a historic CEBL championship in 2022, the Brampton Honey Badgers open the 2023 campaign May 24 at TD Place Arena in Ottawa in what will tip off the league’s fifth season and be nationally televised on TSN. The Honey Badgers play their first game at the CAA Centre in Brampton two days later, May 26, against the Scarborough Shooting Stars. The CEBL announced the permanent relocation of the Hamilton Honey Badgers to Brampton on November 28, 2022.
