HONEY BADGERS SIGN NBA G LEAGUE FORWARD TILMON

May 03, 2022

The Hamilton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that they have signed forward Jeremiah Tilmon of the NBA’s Orlando Magic’s G League affiliate to a contract for the 2022 season. Tilmon averaged 9.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 20.5 minutes in 45 games with the Lakeland Magic this season. He was undrafted last year but was signed by the Orlando Magic on October 7, 2021 after a stint with the Magic at the NBA Summer League.

“Jeremiah is a physical low-post presence who played well in his rookie season with Lakeland,” said Honey Badgers general manager Jermaine Anderson. “Jeremiah attacks the glass on both ends of the floor, and he’s an exceptional screen and roll player. He will provide additional toughness, and takes pride on the defensive end. I love the fact he is eager to work and develop. We’re definitely looking forward to having him with us this season.”

The East St. Louis native played four seasons at the University of Missouri, where he starred alongside fellow NBA prospect Dru Smith. He started every game as a freshman and registered 33 blocked shots, the fourth-most ever for a Mizzou freshman. As a sophomore, Tilmon became the second Tiger in three decades to shoot above 54 percent in back-to-back seasons. Prior to his junior year, he was named to the 2019 Preseason Second-Team All-SEC (Coaches) and to the 2019-20 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Watch List. On January 4, 2020 he was sidelined with a foot injury and although he only played 17 games, he still led Mizzou in blocks with 21. Tilmon finished his career at Missouri with averages of 9.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 22.7 minutes per game through 104 games in four seasons.

Hamilton opens training camp for the 2022 season Tuesday, May 17 at the training centre for the men’s Canadian National team at Humber College North in Mississauga. The Honey Badgers tip off their fourth CEBL season Wednesday, May 25 when the expansion Montreal Alliance visit FirstOntario Centre. It will be the first of 100 regular season CEBL games played in 69 days for Canada’s official national professional basketball league. Tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.ca or 905-522-BALL.
