Honey Badgers Sign Trio of Free Agents

Additions include All-time Canadian university scorer, a McMaster alumni, and American power forward

The Hamilton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday the signing of free agents Javon Masters, Adam Presutti, and Anthony Lee Jr.

Masters, a six-foot guard from Kitchener, Ontario, is the all-time leading scorer in Canadian men’s university basketball history with 2,407 points. He averaged 25.1 points in 96 games for the University of New Brunswick Reds. Masters is playing his rookie pro season for Rio Ourense Termal of the Spain LEB Gold League where he is averaging 6.1 points in 31 games. He scored a career-high 16 points in just 19 minutes January 23 versus Real Canoe.

Presutti will be no stranger to Hamilton basketball fans. The six-foot-two guard from Oakville, Ontario played his first four collegiate seasons with the McMaster Marauders and was named 2012 Canadian university men’s basketball rookie of the year. For the past two seasons, he has played pro in Slovakia for Spisska Nova Ves where he is averaging 8.2 points, 2.6 assists and 22.9 minutes in 41 games.

Lee Jr. is a six-foot-nine forward from Columbia, Maryland, who has played four seasons as a professional throughout the world, averaging 8.8 points, 7.1 rebounds in 79 games. He grabbed a career-best 25 rebounds as a member of Ironi Ramat Glen (Israeli League) on March 17, 2017. During his collegiate career, Lee Jr. played one season at Ohio State after three seasons at Temple.

The CEBL, the official professional league partner of Canada Basketball, opens its inaugural season May 9 with franchises in Fraser Valley (Abbotsford), Edmonton, Guelph, Hamilton, Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), and Niagara (St. Catharines). CEBL teams will play a 20-game regular season from May 9 to August 15, culminating with a league championship playoff at a site to be announced.
